The Easter long weekend is a great time to spend with the family, stuffing yourself with hot cross buns and searching for chocolate eggs. The sun is expected to make an appearance, so gather the kids and plan a fun egg hunt at your local playground, or head out to an Easter egg hunt event.
With public holidays in the mix, its hard to know what to do and what's open.
We have done some digging to find out what is going on in Melbourne's South East and surrounds over the Easter break.

GOOD FRIDAY 15TH APRIL
Free activities, rides and entertainment running from 11pm to 5pm until April 21. Park entry free applies, and there is an additional cost for the maze. Register for kids activities online
Open daily, this is a great place to grab some chocolate eggs, hot chocolate, hot cross buns and let the kids run around in the grounds. While you are in the area why not check out Yarra Glen Adventure Playground.
Egg hunt is included for every paying child, and there are lots of other fun activities and things to do there. Kids under 2 are free entry or can do a hunt for $5. Make sure to book this one online
Open daily throughout the long weekend, with live performances, food, drinks, games and meadows of flowers to marvel at. Make sure to buy tickets online, under 16s are free.
The NGV is open 10am – 5pm daily over the weekend. Visit Pond(er) - the gorgeous pink lank, and The Gecko & the Mermaid exhibition at the Childrens Gallery for some interactive play.
Easter Saturday 16th April
Always a great day out wondering through the stores and trying different foods.
The kids can also enjoy some Easter activities and meet the Easter Bunny (10am -2pm).
An Easter hunt with a bit of a challenge. Each hunter will be given a map to search the farm for four egg tokens, which are then swapped in for real chocolate. Purchase tickets online, $10 for hunters and spectators are free.
Plenty of places to find anything from hot cross buns to fresh seafood. Plus meet the Easter Bunny, enjoy some entertainment and pop into the MoPA: Museum of Play & Art pop up for some fun for the kids.

Perfect spot to go for a walk then lay down a blanket for a light lunch after a long weekend of eating.
Let the kids run around and burn some energy while you take in the beautiful gardens.
